Google UX 2.0 Updates
We're pleased to announce that Google will begin rolling out updates to the Mobile Credential Google Wallet UI starting in August. These enhancements are designed to provide an even more seamless and user-friendly experience for your campus community and will impact how your credentials appear to users.

August 2025.
Can customers delay this update?
No, this update will be rolled out by Google and will not have the option of delaying.
Will end users' mobile credentials still work within the Google Wallet after this update?
Yes, your mobile credentials will still work at all the endpoints it worked at prior to the Google Wallet 2.0 update. The update will only affect visual changes to the mobile credential design in the Google Wallet.
Will we have to uninstall and reinstall the eAccount mobile application?
No, an uninstallation of the eAccounts will not be required with this update.
Will end users have to re-provision their mobile credentials?
No, end users will not have to reprovision their mobile credentials with this update.
What are the steps to resolve the design/UI update?
Customer will call into the support team and create a ticket.
Support will work on either resolving the issue themselves or reach out to our Marketing team to assist.
Marketing will provide the image back to the support team to upload into SP Management Portal for Transact.
- Marketing would need the new asset that the customer would like to swap or upload.
- Marketing has uploaded blanks for several campuses.
Who are the customers that will be most affected by this?
Customers who have cohesive designs from Hero, or issues with their background color, or they might be missing the wordmark.
How is the design/UX going to be affected?
- Hero Image: The hero image will be resized and centered within the card layout, rather than appearing below the user's name, mobile role, and background color.
- Patron Image: The user's photo will now be positioned in the center-right of the card, layered on top of the hero image.
- Light Wordmark: The light wordmark will be repositioned to the top-left corner of the card.
- Dark Wordmark: The dark wordmark will no longer be used and will not transition to the new Wallet UI.
- Seal: The seal will be removed and will not be carried over to the updated design.
- Font Color: Font color will now be auto-generated by Google's AI and limited to black or white, based on contrast. Custom font color selection will no longer be supported.
